The SA-600 is a multi-purpose, dual-pattern
electret-condenser microphone designed to meet the needs of amateur or
professional video enthusiasts using equipment with unbalanced 3.5mm inputs.
The back electret-condenser element is powered internally by a single
1.5v AA battery and features two user-selectable polar patterns. The Hypercardioid
"Tele" setting gives a long narrow pattern and reduced sensitivity
to ambient noise. This setting is excellent for long distance "shotgun"
style miking of sounds at a distance such as at weddings, sports, speeches
and stage productions. The cardioid setting yields a wider pattern well-suited
to close-range pickup of larger groups or for interview work. While normally
mounted on a video camera or microphone stand, the SA-600 also can be
used with confidence as a hand-held interview microphone thanks to its
low susceptibility to breath noise and the absence of proximity effect.
The microphone's metal case is both durable and lightweight, and is beautifully
finished in a low-reflectivity matte-black coating. The SA-600 is supplied
with a foam windscreen, on-camera mount, stand mount, permanently attached
coiled cable with male 3.5 mm output, phono-plug adapter, battery and
foam-lined custom carrying case.
